The historic Grosvenor House on Park Lane was the venue for Retail Trust’s 61st London Ball on 27th January 2014. The great and the good of the UK’s retail industry gathered for the carnival-themed event, raising £1,071,000 to support the needs of the three million employees in the trade. Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke played host for the evening and delighted the audience at the star-studded event.
Attendees included rugby legend Phil Vickery, Sir Philip Green, Marc Bolland, CEO of Marks & Spencer, Alistair McGeorge, Chairman of New Look, Terry Duddy, CEO of Home Retail Group, Don McCarthy Chairman of House of Fraser and a host of celebrities and companies from across the industry including American Express, Barclays, Clarks, Coral, Debenhams, Hammerson, House of Fraser, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, New Look and Next. The evening commenced with a colourful and fun performance from a Brazilian dance troupe followed by a carnival themed version of Higher or Lower where guests danced to either Samba or Rumba music. Other entertainment followed through the evening with Irish rap duo Abandoman and back by popular demand, show piece band Gilev.
The main auction and silent auction were a huge success with lots such as a One Direction Private Box, Miranda Hart Private Box, a Chelsea FC experience, a box at Tottenham Hotspurs, a cocktail master glass, a Jeroboam of Taittinger and a luxury shopping trip for two to Paris.Richard Boland, CEO of Retail Trust said “I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to those who made tonight possible and wholeheartedly thank you our sponsors and supporters for your immensely generous donations. 2014 will be an exciting year for us as we are planning the expansion of the reach and relevance of our services, helping more people than ever.
