On 4th September 2014, suppliers, partners and affiliates of Iceland gathered together for the Annual Charity Golf Day & Gala Dinner celebrating 22 years of the event… The day kicked off with an early morning breakfast and registration in the Clubhouse, after which 27 teams tee’ed off on the Nicklaus Course and a further 9 teams staggered their tee off’s on the Cheshire Course. Players were treated to some delicious food around the course including a Mars ice cream van, champagne, Magners and even a Greggs hut serving up fresh pasties and cakes! Other competitions were provided in various forms through-out the course including Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive, a Charity wager hole and the chance to win a Mini Cooper. Lunch time entertainment came in the form of a golf simulator where golfers took part in a nearest the pin competition for a chance to win a 42” Television.
The afternoon session saw another 25 teams take to the Nicklaus Course and 14 teams take to the Cheshire Course for another 9 holes.
Following a successful day on the golf course all 208 players and 134 additional evening guests were treated to a fantastic three course meal hosted for the seventeenth year running by Willie Miller. Throughout the evening guests were kept amused by ex-England rugby player and presenter Martin Bayfield, stand-up comedian, actor and Royal Marine Cassidy Little, and finally Abandoman, who wowed the crowd with their ability to freestyle songs at lightning speed based on audience suggestions.
The main auction on the night was a huge success including lots such as hospitality for four at the 2015 British Grand Prix, Christmas at Downton Abbey for four people, Ashes tickets and Champions League Final tickets with flights and accommodation in Berlin.In total the event raised a staggering £300,000, another huge increase from previous years. The monies raised were donated to the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation with the main benefactors being Prostate Cancer UK and The Royal British Legion.This year D&G Partners assisted Iceland in the recruitment of;
