Iceland Annual Charity Event

On the 10th September 2015, Iceland Food’s suppliers, partners and affiliates gathered together at Carden Park in Cheshire for the 23rd Annual Charity Golf Day & Gala Dinner.

The day commenced with breakfast and registration in the Golf Clubhouse before 32 teams took to the Nickclaus and Cheshire courses for the 18 and 9 hole competitions. Players were treated to some delicious food around the course including a Kelly’s ice cream van, champagne, Magners, a Greggs hut and for those feeling adventurous a ‘Wild Gatherings’ van which served up Kangaroo, Wild Boar, Ostrich and Springbok burgers. Other competitions were provided in various forms through-out the course including Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive, a Charity wager hole and the chance to win a Mini Cooper by scoring a Hole in One. The afternoon session saw another 40 teams take to the Nicklaus and Cheshire Course for another 18 and 9 holes.

Following a successful day on the golf course players were joined by additional evening guests taking the total for the event to 345. All were treated to a fantastic three course meal hosted for the 18th year running by Willie Miller. Throughout the evening guests were kept amused by Welsh International rugby union referee Nigel Owens, stand-up comedian, actor and ex Royal Marine Cassidy Little, and back by popular demand, Irish rap duo, Abandoman.

The main auction on the night was a huge success including lots such as X Factor Final tickets, British Grand Prix tickets, Italian Grand Prix tickets and wine tasting tour, a holiday in the Algarve and a very special Mulberry Bayswater handbag.

In total the event raised a record breaking amount of £430,000, almost £130,000 more than last year! The monies raised were donated to the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation with the main benefactors this year being Prostate Cancer UK and The DNRC.

D&G Partners are extremely proud to have assisted Iceland in the sale of golf teams and dinner places as well as advertising with the souvenir programme and on course sponsorship.
